Robert Edward Sheets

Robert Edward Sheets 73 of Charleston, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division. Robert was born on January 5, 1951, in Charleston, West Virginia. Robert was a former City of Charleston Council Member serving three consecutive terms from 2007 to 2022. Robert was an LGBTQ+ activist, former manager of the Tap Room, founder of the annual Pride Picnic held at Coonskin Park, President of the Prime Timers, Vice President of the Living AIDS Memorial Garden, long time member of the Kanawha County Democratic Executive Committee, a Power of One recipient, and a mentor to many non-profit organizations. Robert will be missed by many friends but will not be forgotten as he has helped pave the way for others to continue his work. Per Robert’s request there will be no services at this time but a memorial service honoring his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Roberts name to the Living AIDS Memorial Garden at PO Box 11704 Charleston, WV 25339.
