Nina Combs Metz (nee' McKinney), 79, of Danville, died August 24, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard C. Combs of Elk River; her second husband, Ira Perry of Charleston; her sisters: Edith Findley, Rosa Majacek, Edna Harrison, Irene Dransfield; her brothers, Luke and Tom McKinney.

She is survived by her husband of forty years, Lewis Dale Metz of Danville, WV, and the daughters of her first marriage, Lisa Ann Combs and W. Jean Kellogg; her sisters, Jolene Mathis, Johnnie Abla, Edith Notchie; and her brothers, Millard, Arthur, Walter, James, Dale and George McKinney.

She is also survived by stepsons, Daniel, Dale, Delvin, and David Metz; and by grandchildren, Lark Kellogg; Lewis Dale II, Keith, Timothy, Jeremy, Andrew, Emily, Nico, Daley Junior, Maureen, Perry and Valeria Metz; Tiffany, Lucas and T.J. Parsons.

She was born May 2, 1937, near Barnabus, WV, and grew up in Logan County, but spent most of her adult life was lived around Charleston, where she worked in many local restaurants. She was known as a wonderful cook who could always throw together a fantastic meal from whatever she had on hand.

Later in life, she earned her GED and her C.N.A. She then worked as a Nurse's Aide at St. Francis Hospital, primarily in their terminal ward, where she was known for kindness and compassion. She also cared for many elderly hospice patients in their homes.

Nina had a ready smile, a hearty laugh, and an impish sense of humor; she often saw and appreciated the absurdities of life. She will be missed greatly by her family and her loved ones, by her beloved pet, Susie; also by her very dear friends, Betty McGraw, and Katrina Workman.

The service will be held Saturday, August 27, at 1 PM, at Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Avenue, Charleston WV. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 AM – 12:30 PM. The private burial will be at Wayne County, at the Community Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
