Nelson Eugene "Gene" Sneed

Nelson Eugene "Gene" Sneed, 72, of Charleston, died Friday, November 17, 2017. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, at Elk Funeral Home, Charleston. A complete obituary will be published Tuesday, November 21. He was born March 1, 1945, in Crown Hill (Kanawha Co.) Gene was formerly employed at C.A.M.C Memorial Division, Goodwill Industries, and A & I Supply. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. Eugene was a loving brother, father, and papaw who loved to garden, and cook and was known for his amazing sense of humor and had the kindest, gentlest heart.

He is survived by his loving family; wife Mary Sneed, daughters; Judy Gancs (Robbie), and Carolyn Page, a daughter Kim Sneed Jones and grandchildren from a previous marriage, grandchildren; Megan Mullins (Willie), Bob and Roger Gancs, Kimberly Sloan, and Rickey Sprouse, great grandchildren; Makayla and Pablo Falcon, Daniel and Brayden Sloan, Haley, Ashley and Angelina Sprouse, sister; Helen Adkins Greene, brothers; Johnny, Hurley, Dusty, Freddy, Bugs, and Jerry, and a host of neices and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston, WV. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, near his grandmother who raised him, and will include military honors. Family will receive friends from 11:00 Am, Tuesday until 1 PM (service time) at the funeral home.
