David J (Pops) Mazzocchi
David died at home on March 4th after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 71. David was born on Long Island, N.Y.. He attended SUNY Oneonta and Union College. He served in the US NAVY during the Vietnam Era as a code analyst. After a career in business, he settled in Charleston, WV. Until he became ill ,he worked at Wellingtons’ Café as an assistant manager. Known for his creative woodworking skills, his sense of humor, sharp wit, love of games , his compassion, he was always a friend and willing to lend a helping hand.
David loved Halloween, he would start preparing in early spring with an original theme, engaging family and friends. Folks would come from all around to see his spooky creations. He will be missed.
David is survived by his 4 children, Evan (Veronica), David, Danielle Wescott, and Samantha Hansen, eight
cherished grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth MacGilvray (Tom), Jean Lowe (Ricky), Irene Mazzocchi (Timothy Dillon) and devoted nieces and nephews.
The Mazzocchi family wishes to thank all the friends and neighbors who have been so kind during David’s
last months.
