Gilly was an avid sports fan who was always watching some sort of sports on TV. He occasionally enjoyed placing a wager to make it more interesting to watch. He loved playing golf and played whenever the opportunity presented itself and also enjoyed throwing darts at Denver's Depot where he was a regular.
He enjoyed and often told the story of his father taking him to Cincinnati on the train to watch the Reds play baseball when he was a little fellow. He never met a stranger and had a smile that was infectious. He knew scores of people and was liked and loved by all.
Gilly was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend who is survived by his children, Danny Ray Sloan and Tiffany Sloan, special niece Tisha Gravely, brother, Charley Ferrell, seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friend and confidant, Carolyn Smith.
