Charles "Butch" Cochran, 73, of Charleston, WV, surrounded by his family, stepped into heaven's gates on April 27, 2019, after an extended illness.
He was born January 13, 1946, in Charleston, to the late Porta and P.J. Cochran, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Myers, and a brother, P.J. Cochran, Jr.
Butch loved God, family, friends and fishing. He was a member and deacon Garrison Ave. Freewill Baptist Church, served in the Army National Guard for 6 years, during Viet Nam, and worked at K-Mart for 29 years.
Butch is survived by his (spoiled) soulmate, who he was married to for 51 years, Phyllis Cochran, daughters; Karrie (Brian) Mace, Kim Cochran. Philip Walden, whom Butch considered a son, and Philip loved him like a dad. Granddaughters; Jada Brooke Fore, Jasmine Mace, brother; Joe (Paulette) Cochran and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Butch's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Garrison Ave. Freewill Baptist Church, 597 Garrison Ave., Charleston, WV 25302, with Pastors Eugene Sowers, Larry Abshire, and Larry Young officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time, at the church.
At Butch's request he will then be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Garrison Ave. FWB Church Food Pantry, at the address above, in Butch's name.
