Catherine Parsons

Catherine Wheeler Parsons, 96, of Dunbar, formerly of Charleston, passed away, December 16, 2018.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Edgar and Eugenia Gertrude Greenleaf Wheeler, husband, Gene L. Parsons, siblings, Frances Parsons, Charles Wheeler, and Lillian Rock.  She was the last surviving member of the Wheeler Family.

Catherine was a graduate of Charleston High School, Morris Harvey College, with a degree in education, having taught at Dunbar High School, Elkview Junior High School and Stonewall Jackson High School, where after retirement continued to be a substitute teacher for many years.

She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Catherine Waugh of Hurricane, WV, granddaughters, Kari Conner (Matt) of Winfield, Amanda "Amie" Waugh Glancy of Stuart, Florida, great-grandchildren, Madison, Eli, Taylor and Gaige.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston, WV 25302, with Scott Baha officiating. Private burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM, Friday until service time Noon, at the funeral home.
